Apr. 4, Headlines - Rob Richie Executive Director with FairVote, has been one of the leaders
of the election reform movement. He joins us to talk about Senator Bill Nelson's
election reform plan.
"Where I see Nelson's proposal, is a beginning, and I think he sees it that
way too. Which is that he, as a Floridian, has had experience with broken elections,
repeatedly, and its happening again this year, and he's saying enough. And
we need to take on the biggest areas that are blocking democracy both in Florida
and the Nation."
"There are almost as many plans as thoughtful people who care
about politics. Its one of these issues where unlike, say, the Electoral
College, there's maybe 2 or 3 reform proposals, but the issue of how to fix
primaries seems to generate creativity, and no fixed way to do it just right.
And his is a variation of proposals that are being put out there by various
people."
