Saturday, Louisiana is one of three states and the Virgin Islands that heads
to the polls. Residents are still trying to rebuild after Katrina hit more
than two years ago.
Radio Rootz youth in the Gulf Coast interviewed some
of the residents about what they expect out of this year's candidates.
Courting these voters, Barack
Obama, spent part of Thursday at Tulane University where he unveiled his plan
for the recovering city.
"A tale of two cities. Yes parts of New Orleans are coming back to life.
But we also know that over 25,000 families are still living in small trailers,
that homes still sit empty and condemned that schools, hospitals and firehouses
and police stations remain shuttered."
Hillary Clinton unveiled her plan last May.
Both have similar objectives - restore the levees, rebuild the schools and
hospitals, provide more low income housing. Obama's ideas are more specific.
He'd fund the levy program by eliminating government waste and reduce the number
of federal contractors.
Hillary Clinton
will not be traveling to the Louisiana before Saturday. Her husband Bill plans
to be there today.
You will find audio, video, blogs, and hard-hitting analysis from progressive journalists. Each day, unravel the double speak of candidates and media pundits, with news and alternative perspectives about the critical issues.
