Apr. 24, Headlines - Both the Clinton and
Obama campaigns are attempting to spin the Pennsylvania
primary to their advantage. Clinton has raised several million dollars since
the polls closed, money she urgently needs as she ended the last reporting
period ten million dollars in debt.
Barack Obama's campaign points to his
lead in seated delegates by more than 150 by most estimates, even after his
Pennsylvania loss. The Obama campaign says it's nearly impossible for Clinton
to surpass him, and will be very difficult for her to come with in 100 seated
delegates. Both candidates are spending time in the next two contests, North
Carolina and Indiana.
Hillary Clinton's surrogates are defending aggressive
remarks she made about Iran. In Philadelphia, Representative Joe
Sestak of
a Philadelphia suburb said he was impressed with her level of knowledge about
deterrence. Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana also labeled the remarks as deterrence.
This is what she said on Good Morning America Tuesday morning. Her position
on Iran seems to be shifting as she is openly discussing hypotheticals. In
an ABC debate last week, Clinton said she would expand a US offer of retaliation
to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait should Iran attack those countries.
"We would be able
to totally obliterate them. That's a terrible thing to say but those people
who run Iran need to understand that because perhaps that will deter them
from doing something that would be reckless, foolish, and tragic."
Election justice
advocates are concerned with the voting process in Pennsylvania. They point
to malfunctioning electronic voting machines that offer no paper trail. Of
1,000 phone calls relaying concerns and complaints, nearly 30 percent were
because of voting machines.
