Apr. 16, Headlines - Presumptive Republican nominee Senator John
McCain laid out his most detailed
economic plans. At Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburg, McCain focused
on cutting taxes and spending as economic life support.
He took a jab at Democratic
candidates Barack Obama, saying he and Hillary
Clinton will raise taxes, by
allowing many of President Bush's tax cuts to expire.
"All these tax increases
are under the fine print of the slogan hope. They're gonna raise your taxes
by thousands of dollars a year and they have the audacity of hope you don't
mind."
That tax cuts, which focus on the middle class include doubling the exemptions
for children and, more immediate, a summer tax holiday. He'd put the breaks
on an18 cent federal gas tax.
As Catholic leader, Pope Benedict the 16th visits
DC, Presidential candidates are weighing in. Hillary Clinton is praising the
pope on his leadership in global warming. Obama says the Pope's visit offers
comfort Americans are facing tough economic times and John McCain's spokesman
Tucker Bounds noted the Pope's quote contributions to America's cultural values.
