Noting a divided world over the controversial war, McCain proposed a League
of Democracies, a new coalition of more than 100 Democratic countries to work
together on a united front to expand and defend democratic ideals. Both Hillary
Clinton and Barack Obama say
McCain's policy for Iraq will simply continue the failed policies of the Bush
administration.
Senator Bill Nelson, Democrat of Florida unveils a major election reform package.
His proposal will dismantle the current chaotic primary system for a more orderly
system where states will hold primaries on dates determined by regions. He
proposes abolishing the electoral college, instead choosing the President on
the popular vote. His proposal will include early and absentee voting in every
state. His idea will abolish voting machines that don't leave a paper trail.
Florida voters were punished for their state government moving the primary
too early.
A Federal Judge ruled that Michigan's January 15th primary was unconstitutional.
This ruling diminished the chances that the Democratic Party will honor Michigan's
outcome. The Clinton campaign is calling on the primary to count, she won
the state but Barack Obama's name was not on the ballot. Clinton also calls
on a re-vote.
